It is always encouraging for us to receive notes of testimony about what The Lord has done through counseling and mentoring. We welcome our clients to write something to post here if they would like to give thanks to God for what He has done through the ministry of Biblical Counseling!
At a time in my life when I just felt at the end of my rope, I asked my medical doctor for a suggestion on a therapist, preferably a Christian. He gave me the name of Susan Phillips. I called her and she had a waiting list, so she gave me the name of a colleague, Ellen Castillo. I had to drive 1 hr round trip & at first, didn't think I would want to do that once a week. I immediately felt a bond with Ellen. She was very knowledgeable, warm and compassionate. I saw Ellen for approximately 6 months and her counsel helped me immensely.
When I began counseling with Ellen, I was in a desperate state of condemnation. I felt I had missed my destiny by my many mistakes and weaknesses. I was wasting my life dwelling in regrets. I knew I had to open up to someone, and Ellen was there. From the beginning, I was convicted by the Holy Spirit to be as open and honest as I could be and as time went on I was able to share the deepest parts of my soul that needed tending to. Ellen was understanding, patient and insightful, which helped me to evaluate my own thought processes. I experienced deep healing, both by seeing my need to forgive and be forgiven. I am grateful for this ministry and hope that many women will experience the same freedom that I have received.
I was seeking Godly, scripture-based counseling for a deeply troubled marriage. Before my second meeting with Ellen I found myself suddenly alone and in desperate need of guidance as I began to look towards a future as a divorced Christian woman. Ellen walked with me thru a very painful reality, seeking the Lord on my behalf thru prayer, counsel and Bible reading. She helped me to gain a deeper understanding of who I am in God's eyes. She supported me as I looked into the face of things that I did to contribute to the difficulties in my marriage, but also encouraged me as I learned how to let go of things that were not my part. I am convinced that nothing is wasted in the life of a believer. Thru Ellen's guidance and counsel I have come to see my experience as something that the Lord can use to His glory in both my life and the lives of others. There is joy, hope and healing for those who earnestly seek Him, even in the face of divorce.
